Gaumukh-Tapovan Trek

About the Gaumukh–Tapovan Trek

Gaumukh–Tapovan is one of the most iconic high-altitude treks in the Garhwal Himalayas—a journey where spirituality, adventure, glaciers, and towering Himalayan peaks come together.

Starting from the sacred town of Gangotri, the trail takes you deep into the spectacular landscapes of Gangotri National Park, following the Bhagirathi River through ancient Himalayan forests and rugged mountain terrain.

The journey leads you to Gaumukh, the sacred snout of the Gangotri Glacier and one of the most revered sources of the River Ganga. Standing before the massive glacier, surrounded by the silence of the Himalayas, is an experience that stays with you forever.

But the journey does not end at Gaumukh.

Beyond the glacier lies Tapovan, one of the most beautiful high-altitude meadows in Uttarakhand. Here, the legendary Mt. Shivling rises dramatically into the sky, surrounded by the magnificent peaks of the Bhagirathi range, Meru, and other Himalayan giants.

This trek is perfect for:
