Roopkund Trek

Roopkund lake with Mysterious skeleton

About the Roopkund Trek

Roopkund is one of India’s most adventurous and demanding high-altitude treks.
The journey begins from Wan Village, a serene Himalayan settlement surrounded by terraced fields, dense forests, and warm mountain culture.

As you walk through the trail:

  • Children greet you with innocent smiles
  • Shepherds move slowly with their flocks
  • Forests echo with birdsong and flowing streams

From Ran-Ka-Dhar, the landscape dramatically opens to reveal your first breathtaking view of Mt. Trishul. Crossing the Neel Ganga River, the trail gradually ascends through oak, rhododendron, and alpine forests, bringing you closer to raw Himalayan wilderness.

The vast green stretches of Ali & Bedni Bugyal (Asia’s largest alpine meadows) feel endless—surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. Reflections of Mt. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti in Bedni Kund create moments of quiet awe.

The final reward is Roopkund Lake, also known as the Mystery Lake, famous for ancient human remains visible near its edges—adding a rare historical and emotional depth to this extraordinary trek.
